A Melmira customer favourite, Marie Jo has always been a big part of our family. The evolution of Marie Jo over the last 100 years has been beautiful and incredibly innovative: from the intricate details and silky sheer fabrics of classic Marie Jo, to the sporty-chic and minimalist designs of its L'Aventure collections.
What began as a small family business founded in 1919, Van de Velde, Marie Jo's parent company, spent its early years in operation manufacturing corsets in Belgium. As they expanded business into bras and tights, Marie Jo began production in 1981 with its debut of the original Avero collection.
Over 40 years later, the iconic plaid knit and daisy straps stands to be one of Marie Jo's most popular and recognizable designs. It wasn't until 1997 that VDV launched Marie Jo L'Aventure. Instead of delicate and intricate lacy and floral details, L'Aventure set itself apart by using bold colours and printed fabrics for a sleek and chic look.
Now in 2023, we're really seeing these brands both flourish in their own ways and yet continue to offer quality fit and comfort that they've always been known to offer. Marie Jo has really honed their craft and continues to focus on the importance of look good, feel better. With lingerie that complements you, your confidence will shine with you.
