Brand Edit: Melissa Odabash
Melissa Odabash started her own swimwear line in her early 20’s while working as a model in Italy. Originally from New Jersey, she blended her experience modelling swimwear with her inspiration from her mother’s 1970’s crocheted pieces, which eventually evolved into the collections we know and love today. Now based in London, the brand’s collections are developed and created to enhance the silhouette for all body types, empowering the wearer and making them a must-have for the distinguished global traveller. Shortly after its launch, British Vogue named Melissa Odabash, ‘the Ferrari’s of the bikini world’, solidifying the brand as a leader in the luxury swimwear market.
Each collection illustrates signature Odabash style and quality, and every swim style comes with built-in UV protection. From the finest Italian swimwear fabrics to re-worked archived and vintage prints that are ethically sourced and manufactured. Small and considered capsule collections are skillfully produced from regenerated yarns and sustainable fabric to continuously work towards reducing the brands environmental impact. There are multiple fittings of swimwear and beachwear garments before every collection launch, personally conducted by Melissa to ensure each items fit is perfected before reaching the customer.
As an extension of her collection, Melissa frequently collaborates with other designers and brands. She has teamed with couture designer and friend Julian MacDonald, Gwenyth Paltrow and GOOP, and Rachel Roy, developing special capsule collections with each.
The brand has gained a cult following and is beloved by such celebrities as Cindy Crawford, Elle Macpherson, Christie Brinkley, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Gwenyth Paltrow, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez and the Kardashian/Jenners to name a few. She also designed iconic swimsuits for films, as well as a highly successful collaboration with Amoena, creating a collection of mastectomy onepieces and bikinis with iconic Odabash style.
Melissa continues to enjoy many philanthropic ventures and has worked with Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, Prince’s Trust, Kidsco, CHIVA, and has partnered with Elton John to create an exclusive hat for his AIDS Foundation.
